Nasarawa PDP leadership extends olive branch to Onawo group after Appeal Court victory

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the defection of Hon. Marahazu Salisu Faru, a member of the State House of Assembly representing Maradun Constituency, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement, the PDP said it was not surprised by Faru’s decision, noting that individuals who place personal interests above the collective will of the people often face negative consequences.

The party blamed the APC for the current hunger, insecurity, and corruption afflicting Zamfara and the nation, reminding citizens that they still recall the hardships endured under the APC government. In contrast, the PDP praised Governor Dauda Lawal for restoring hope, rebuilding institutions, and safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of the people.

The PDP expressed confidence that Hon. Faru will eventually regret his move, asserting that the people of Zamfara have chosen to stand firmly with the PDP. It urged its members to remain strong and united, emphasizing that no defection can undermine the party’s foundation or thwart the will of the people.

While acknowledging that Faru’s defection is a personal decision rather than a reflection of the party’s popularity, the PDP reaffirmed its commitment to the people of Zamfara, highlighting its progress in rebuilding the state and addressing citizens’ challenges. As the political landscape in Zamfara continues to evolve, the PDP’s response underscores its resilience and determination to maintain a strong presence in the state, with residents watching developments closely as future elections approach.
