The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has expressed concern over an alleged plot to attack its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, during an event scheduled for Sunday. According to the party, the planned attack is set to occur at the Gindiri Old Students’ Reunion Service in Gindiri town, Mangu Local Government Area.
In a statement, the state’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, claimed that the party has uncovered a plan by some individuals to mobilize thugs to assault the National Chairman. The alleged plotters are reportedly meeting at a private residence in Jos to finalize their plans. As part of the plan, three buses have been arranged in each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu to transport thugs to the Gindiri Missionary Compound, where they intend to embarrass the National Chairman and his team.
Unconfirmed reports also indicate that some thugs will be stationed at the Gindiri Roundabout. The party alleges that journalists from within and outside Plateau State are being mobilized to create the impression that the people of Plateau despise the National Chairman. This, according to the party, is an attempt to discredit the National Chairman and create a negative perception of the party.
The APC has called on security agencies to investigate the matter and prevent any breakdown of law and order. The party has also appealed to its supporters to remain peaceful and law-abiding despite the alleged provocation. The situation is being closely monitored, and the party is urging all stakeholders to ensure that the event takes place peacefully.
The alleged plot has raised concerns about the safety of political leaders and the potential for violence in the region. The APC has emphasized the need for security agencies to take proactive measures to prevent any attacks and ensure the protection of all individuals. As the event approaches, the party is working to ensure that it takes place without incident, and that the rights of all attendees are respected.
The incident highlights the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, particularly during public events. The APC has reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful and law-abiding conduct, and has urged all parties to work together to prevent any violence or unrest. The situation will continue to be monitored, and any developments will be reported as necessary.
