Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has presented a budget of N897.8 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval. The budget, dubbed ‘Building Your Future III’, allocates N167.7 billion for recurrent expenditure, representing 18.68 percent of the total budget, while N730.1 billion is earmarked for capital expenditure, accounting for 81.32 percent.
According to Governor Radda, the 2026 budget represents an increase of N205.6 billion compared to the previous year’s budget. In preparing the budget, the state government adopted a pragmatic approach to revenue generation and expenditure management, conducting a comprehensive review of all funding sources to ensure fiscal balance and eliminate potential deficits.
Each ministry, department, and agency was engaged and required to defend its expenditure framework, aligning with the administration’s blueprint and the pressing needs of the communities. The budget is designed to directly improve the lives of citizens, with every program, project, and initiative aimed at benefiting the people of Katsina State.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Nasir Yahaya-Daura, assured the governor of speedy passage of the budget, pledging to sustain collaboration with the executive arm while upholding the legislative duty of checks and balances. The speaker commended the governor’s efforts towards achieving security, peace, and stability throughout the state, noting that many communities that once lived in fear have now regained stability and hope.
The presentation of the budget marks a significant step towards implementing the state government’s development plans for the 2026 fiscal year.
