Trump’s Concern for Nigeria: A Wake-Up Call Our Leaders Keep Ignoring

In Trump’s concerns about the Christian persecution in Nigeria.

I believe Nigerians are going through persecution, not just Christians or Muslims, but rather Nigerians at large.

So, Trump’s concern is not out of place. In fact, Nigerians should be grateful for his concerns. However, his choice of words and approach need clarity and more attention. But what we’ve seen from our leaders and so-called leaders are utterances that suggest irresponsibility and are unacceptable given the plight of citizens who are under life-threatening situations that have persisted for years.

But when leaders are playing politics with sensitive issues like Trump’s concerns, we citizens shouldn’t be blamed for wanting his sincere support.
We appreciate Trump for his concerns and wish he could go beyond words to show sincerity of purpose.
We can’t continue to rely on a government that seems hopeless in a situation we’ve found ourselves in. It’s a situation where the government has lost count of people being killed daily; they don’t even acknowledge fresh killings, nor do they make plans to confront the situation. In fact, I believe anyone against Trump’s concern is suspect.

The likes of Asari Dokubo are becoming a major concern that needs to be addressed; I think his approach most times is a disgrace to the sanity of Nigeria, especially regarding the government. Generally, Trump’s concerns over the genocide in Nigeria should be applauded instead of criticized negatively.
