The Anambra State Government is urging all eligible voters to take part in the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 8, 2025. In a press release, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, called on citizens to exercise their right to vote as a way of demonstrating their interest in governance. He stressed that active participation is especially crucial after the low turnout recorded in the 2021 governorship election, when only about 200,000 of the more than 2.7 million registered voters cast ballots.

Mefor described full voter participation as a fundamental expression of civic responsibility and a vital sign of commitment to democratic governance. As one of Nigeria’s leading states, Anambra has traditionally set a positive example, and the government is now urging the people—known as Ndi Anambra—to lead once again by turning out in large numbers, voting peacefully and responsibly. His statement underscores the significance of the election and the role citizens play in shaping the state’s future.

The gubernatorial election offers the people of Anambra State an opportunity to exercise their democratic rights and contribute to the state’s development. With a large pool of registered voters, the state has the potential to achieve a turnout that surpasses previous elections. The government’s call to action serves as a reminder of the importance of civic engagement and the need for citizens to participate in the democratic process.

As the election date approaches, the government is expected to implement measures to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting process. Citizens are encouraged to come out and make their voices heard, thereby contributing to the state’s democratic growth and setting an example for other states. The outcome of the election will be closely watched and is anticipated to have a significant impact on Anambra’s future.
