The Kabale office of the Resident District Commissioner has assured the National Unity Platform’s presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), of full security and cooperation for his upcoming campaign tour in the Kigezi sub‑region. Kabale Deputy RDC Michael Kyakashari said that all necessary security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful and orderly campaign activities in the area.
Kyagulanyi is set to begin his campaign trail in Kigezi on 10 November, starting with Rukiga and Kabale districts, in line with the Electoral Commission’s roadmap. He will address supporters across the region’s six districts, promoting the NUP’s vision for a “New Uganda.” The Electoral Commission has issued a comprehensive roadmap for presidential campaigns, including guidelines for candidate safety and security, and has urged all stakeholders to adhere to them to ensure a smooth, peaceful electoral process.
The RDC’s assurance comes amid calls from various political parties for fairness, transparency and respect for all candidates during the campaign period. As the campaign season heats up, the promise of security and cooperation is seen as a positive step toward creating a conducive environment for all candidates to campaign freely. The Kigezi sub‑region is a key battleground, with a significant number of voters and diverse political affiliations, and Kyagulanyi’s tour is expected to draw large crowds. The RDC’s commitment to providing maximum security will be crucial for the safety of both the candidate and his supporters.
As the campaign trail unfolds, the international community will be watching closely how Uganda’s electoral process develops. With elections scheduled for the coming months, the RDC’s assurance of security and cooperation, together with the Electoral Commission’s guidelines, is a welcome development that will be essential for promoting a free and fair electoral process. All eyes are now on Uganda as it navigates this critical period in its democratic journey.
