The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will mark its 20th anniversary with a three‑day series of events in Mombasa, beginning with a Disability League Breakfast on Friday. The celebration, which was postponed from October, will honor the late party leader Raila Odinga, widely regarded as the Father of Modern Democracy in Kenya. Interim Party Leader Senator Oburu Oginga said the ODM@20 commemoration will reflect on two decades of political struggle, sacrifice and service to the Kenyan people, while reaffirming the party’s vision for the future.

The festivities will open with a special sitting of the National Governing Council (NGC) on Thursday, focusing on strengthening party structures and charting ODM’s strategic direction. On Friday, after the Disability League Breakfast, the programme will continue with Side‑by‑Side Summits that include the ODM Women’s Summit and the ODM Youth Summit, followed by a Youth Concert in the evening to celebrate two decades of activism and political engagement.

Saturday’s agenda features a celebration of Raila Odinga’s vision, achievements and legacy at Mama Ngina Waterfront, after which the ODM Founders’ Dinner will be held at Sarova Whitesands, attended by President William Ruto. The dinner will bring together leaders, allies and friends of ODM to honor the party’s journey and reaffirm commitment to its ideals. The commemorations will conclude on Sunday with an Inter‑Religious Thanksgiving Service that pays tribute to the life, leadership and legacy of the party’s late founder.

Senator Oburu Oginga described the anniversary as a “solemn yet celebratory moment,” noting that ODM’s journey has been defined by resilience, reform and renewal. He emphasized the importance of securing the party’s legacy and future, stating, “Together, we shall secure the legacy. Together, we shall secure the future.” The ODM@20 commemoration is expected to be a significant event in Kenya’s political landscape, marking a major milestone in the party’s history and reaffirming its commitment to democracy, equality and social justice.
