Shell showcased its contributions to the Nigerian economy at the 2025 International Conference and Exhibition of the Nigeria Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) in Lagos. The event, marking the 43rd NAPE conference and the organization’s 50th anniversary, highlighted Shell’s commitment to Nigeria’s development through both business and social investments.

The conference, themed “Revitalising the Nigerian Petroleum Exploration and Production Strategies for Energy Security and Sustainable Development,” brought together key stakeholders in the petroleum industry. Executive Vice President Nigeria and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, Marno de Jong, noted that Shell has been a driving force in Nigeria’s progress for over 60 years, with significant investments in the country’s energy sector. Recent Final Investment Decisions on the Bonga North and HI projects demonstrate the company’s long‑term commitment to Nigeria’s development.

High‑ranking dignitaries, including Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) Heineken Lokpobiri and Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, visited the Shell stand, underscoring the company’s importance in Nigeria’s energy landscape. The exhibition highlighted Shell’s achievements in deep‑water production, domestic gas distribution, and the empowerment of businesses through renewable energy and other power solutions. Senior Production Geoscientist and Subsurface Integrator Abidemi Belgore conducted tours of the stand, showcasing Shell’s extensive footprint in the nation’s energy sector.

The NAPE conference and exhibition provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss strategies for energy security and sustainable development in Nigeria. As the country seeks to revitalize its petroleum exploration and production strategies, Shell’s contributions and commitment to the economy remain a key focus. With a long history of investment and partnership, Shell is well‑positioned to play a significant role in Nigeria’s energy future, and its emphasis on renewable energy aligns with the global shift toward cleaner sources, underscoring the importance of its contributions to the Nigerian economy.
