Ogun APC Dismisses Daniel’s Claims, Upholds Suspension

Ogun APC accuses Gbenga Daniel of spreading falsehood

The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to a press conference held by Senator Gbenga Daniel’s media team, dismissing the event as “a sham” and accusing the senator of spreading false information about his suspension from the party. According to the APC, the individuals presented as party leaders in Ogun East are unknown to the party and are actually coordinators for Daniel’s Gateway Foundation.

The party claims that the list of people presented as APC leaders in Ogun East is fake, and that not a single ward chairman or local government chairman is on the list. The APC also disputes Daniel’s claim about his ward, stating that records from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show that he is from Ward 04 in Sagamu Local Government.

The APC maintains that Daniel’s suspension was due to confirmed anti-party activities, including working against the party and colluding with the opposition. The party alleges that Daniel ignored several summons and refused to defend himself before party organs, despite being given ample opportunity to do so.

The APC insists that due process was followed in suspending Daniel, with reports from his ward and local government being submitted and endorsed by the respective chairmen and secretaries. The party notes that Daniel was found culpable for working against the party by his own ward.

The APC views the matter as an internal issue and accuses Daniel’s camp of attempting to politicize it for the 2027 elections. The party points out that the same State Working Committee (SWC) being attacked by Daniel’s supporters had earlier approved his candidacy without any complaints from him.

The window for appeal has already closed, according to the APC, and the party has reaffirmed its decision on Daniel’s suspension unless it is reversed through proper internal channels. The APC has also questioned Daniel’s commitment to the party since he became a senator, asking when he last attended a ward meeting or provided feedback to his party constituency.

The APC’s response highlights the ongoing internal conflict within the party and raises questions about Daniel’s future in the APC. The party’s decision to suspend Daniel has significant implications for the senator’s political career and the APC’s internal dynamics. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the party will navigate this internal crisis and what impact it will have on the 2027 elections.
