A dispute has erupted within the royal family of the late Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Tajudeen Aderemi Adedapo, with one of his wives alleging threats to her life and that of her son. Olori Adeola Adedapo, the fifth wife of the late monarch, has petitioned the Osun State Police Command, seeking the arrest of the late king’s first daughter, Dolapo Adedapo, and his fourth wife, Olori Zainab Adedapo.

According to the petition, Olori Adeola was universally acknowledged as the fifth wife of the late ruler by palace chiefs and other royal wives. She lived with the monarch until his death on May 17, 2024, and later gave birth to their son, Prince Idris Aderemi Adedapo, on December 8, 2024. The late king’s younger brother, Alhaji Sulaiman Angulu, confirmed that the family had been paying N50,000 monthly to Adeola for the upkeep of young Prince Idris, acknowledging the monarch’s responsibility for the pregnancy.

The dispute allegedly began after Adeola and her son were denied their full entitlement of about N30 million, which was withheld by Dolapo in collaboration with Olori Zainab. The petition also alleged that properties worth N250 million, located in the GRA area of Oke-Fia, Osogbo, were sold, and the proceeds kept by Dolapo. It is claimed that the late king had separated from Dolapo’s mother before marrying Adeola as his fifth wife.

The Osun State Police Department has confirmed the development, with the X-Squad Unit handling the case. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed that investigations are ongoing, although some of the parties involved are based abroad, making the investigation challenging. The current Alayemore Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Jokotola, has denied knowledge of the affair, stating that those making the allegations should come forward and substantiate their claims.

The royal family has been urged to maintain fairness in the distribution of inheritance, with the current monarch briefed on the matter to ensure that no wife or child of the late monarch is denied their rightful share. The case highlights the complexities of royal succession and inheritance disputes, which can often lead to conflicts within families. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen how the matter will be resolved and whether the parties involved will reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
