The Progressive Governors’ Forum, comprising governors elected on the All Progressives Congress platform, has expressed solidarity with the Kebbi State Government and the families of abducted students from Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga. The forum’s chairman, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, led a delegation to Birnin Kebbi, where they conveyed their support for ongoing rescue efforts.

The visit follows a tragic attack on Monday in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, which resulted in the abduction of students. Uzodimma described the incident as “tragic and unacceptable,” emphasizing the need for unity in the face of rising insecurity across the country. He assured that the governors are committed to strengthening national security, standing firmly behind President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to address the issue.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris thanked the delegation for their visit, stating that President Tinubu has assured the state and parents of the abducted students that the Federal Government is taking necessary steps to ensure their safe rescue. Idris also noted that clerics have been directed to pray for the students’ safe return and for peace in the state.

The delegation included several governors, ministers, and dignitaries, such as Governors Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Ahmed Usman-Ododo of Kogi, and Hyacinth Alia of Benue, as well as Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Senator Atiku Bagudu and Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs Tanko Sununu.

The solidarity visit underscores the need for collective action in addressing the country’s security challenges. With the Federal Government’s assurance of support, the people of Kebbi State and the affected families await the safe return of the abducted students.
