The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized Governor Ademola Adeleke for traveling abroad amid ongoing security concerns in the state. According to the APC, the governor’s actions demonstrate a lack of preparedness and competence in governance.

In a statement issued by State Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, the Osun APC expressed frustration with the governor’s administration, citing persistent missteps and misgovernance since he assumed office in November 2022. The party argued that Governor Adeleke’s conduct suggests he is more focused on the prestige of his office than on addressing the needs of the state.

The APC pointed out that the governor has traveled to the United States at least six times this year, including a recent trip to Texas to attend a birthday event, while security concerns persist in the state. The party contrasted this with President Bola Tinubu’s decision to postpone a working visit to South Africa to attend to security emergencies in the northern region.

The APC also criticized Governor Adeleke’s handling of local governance, noting that grassroots administration has been largely inactive for eight months. Additionally, the party accused the governor of failing to address the strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), which has shut courts in the state for over two months, denying justice to millions of residents.

The APC urged citizens to remain vigilant about their safety and endure until the next governorship election in November 2026. The party’s criticism highlights the ongoing challenges faced by the state and the need for effective governance to address security concerns and provide essential services to residents. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Governor Adeleke will respond to the APC’s criticisms and address the pressing issues facing the state.
