Kano govt demands arrest of ex-governor Ganduje

The Kano State Government has called on authorities to apprehend former Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje after he announced plans to form a militia group in the state. State Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya made the appeal during a press briefing on the outcome of the recent executive council meeting. He noted that Ganduje’s statement was made less than 48 hours before bandits entered a Kano community and abducted several people, raising concerns about a possible link between the former governor’s remarks and the security breach.

Commissioner Waiya praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to protect lives and property in Kano and stressed the need to maintain law and order amid escalating security challenges. The call for Ganduje’s arrest comes as residents grow increasingly anxious after the abductions, and the state government faces pressure to take decisive action to prevent further attacks.

The Kano State Government has assured citizens that it is working closely with security agencies to address these challenges and has urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity. While the situation remains tense, many are calling for stronger security measures to safeguard lives and property. The decision to seek the former governor’s arrest is viewed as a significant step toward addressing the state’s security concerns, and the people of Kano await further developments and reassurance that their safety remains a top priority.
