Nigerian Army Thwarts Large-Scale Terrorist Attack on Chibok
In a pre-dawn operation, Nigerian Army troops successfully repelled a massive attack by over 300 terrorists on the town of Chibok. According to a military source, the attackers launched the assault from multiple directions at approximately 2:50 a.m. However, the battle-ready troops of the 28 Task Force Brigade, supported by ambush teams and observation posts, quickly responded to the threat.
The soldiers engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, holding their ground for over two hours and forcing the attackers to withdraw towards the Azir axis by 5:00 a.m. The 25 Brigade was subsequently deployed to set up ambush positions near the Azir Bridge, utilizing a Nigerian Army unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to guide their movements and intercept the fleeing insurgents.
Despite the terrorists scattering in different directions, the troops effectively disrupted their escape, preventing any harm to personnel or equipment. This outcome has been attributed to the combat readiness and resilience of the troops, demonstrating their ability to respond effectively to security threats.
The attack on Chibok is a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region. The town has previously been targeted by terrorist groups, including the 2014 abduction of hundreds of schoolgirls. The Nigerian Army’s successful defense of the town highlights the importance of continued military presence and vigilance in the area.
Exploitation operations are currently underway to assess the aftermath of the attack and prevent future incidents. The Nigerian Army’s use of UAVs and coordinated ambush tactics has proven effective in disrupting terrorist movements, and such strategies are likely to remain crucial in the fight against terrorism in the region. As the situation continues to unfold, the Nigerian Army’s response will be closely monitored, with the international community watching for signs of progress in the battle against terrorism.
