The Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti has adjourned a case challenging the victory of Dr. Wole Oluyede in the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primary election. The suit, filed by Funsho Ayeni and numbered FHC/AD/CS/29/2025, seeks to overturn Oluyede’s win and has been scheduled for further hearing on 8 December 2025.
Oluyede emerged as the winner of the primary, which was conducted on 8 November 2025 by the Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo‑led electoral committee. He secured 279 votes, defeating Ayeni and Mrs. Funmi Ogun. During the hearing, Ayeni was represented by a team of lawyers led by Kola Kolade, SAN, while Oluyede’s legal team was headed by Ola Olanipekun, SAN, with Barrister Owoseni Ajayi. The PDP’s Osun State Legal Adviser, Barrister Ola Alonge, also appeared on behalf of the party.
After hearing submissions from both sides, Justice Babs Ikuewumi assured that the case would receive a speedy hearing. The judge adjourned the matter to 8 December 2025 to allow all parties sufficient time to prepare their arguments. The outcome is significant, as it may affect the PDP’s preparations for the upcoming gubernatorial election and the legitimacy of its candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, potentially influencing his ability to campaign effectively. Both parties are expected to present additional evidence and arguments as the case progresses, and the court’s decision will ultimately determine the validity of Oluyede’s primary‑election victory.
