Nigeria Power Outage Hits Anambra State Sunday

Nigeria’s FirstPower Electricity Distribution Limited has announced a scheduled power outage in Anambra state, set to take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. The outage is intended to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria to install a new 60 MegaVolt-Ampere transformer and reconfigure the outgoing feeders at the Onitsha Transmission Station.

The affected areas will include several feeders, namely Army Barracks, Awada, Obosi, Umunya, Juddy Bolema, Nnewi Oba, Nnewi Industrial, Ossomala, 3-3, Niccus, and Ogidi, as well as the Nwaziki 11 kV and Woliwo 11 kV feeders. As a result, bulk electricity supply to these regions will be temporarily disrupted during the specified period.

According to FirstPower Electricity Distribution Limited, the planned outage is necessary to facilitate the upgrade and maintenance of the transmission infrastructure. The installation of the new transformer and reconfiguration of the feeders are expected to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power supply in the affected areas.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria plays a crucial role in the country’s electricity sector, responsible for transmitting bulk electricity from power generation stations to distribution companies like FirstPower Electricity Distribution Limited. The company’s efforts to upgrade and maintain its infrastructure are essential to ensuring a stable and efficient power supply to meet the growing demands of households, businesses, and industries.

FirstPower Electricity Distribution Limited has informed its customers about the scheduled outage, advising them to make necessary arrangements during the affected period. The company’s announcement is part of its efforts to maintain transparency and keep its customers informed about any disruptions to the power supply. With the planned outage set to take place on Sunday, residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly and make necessary arrangements to minimize any potential disruptions.
