NNPP Prepares for 2027 Elections Independently

NNPP lawmakers deny plans to dump party, pledge loyalty to Kwankwasiya movement

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is gearing up for the 2027 general elections, with its national chairman, Dr. Ajuji Ahmed, dismissing rumors of secret discussions with President Bola Tinubu or the Presidency. According to Dr. Ahmed, the party’s national leader is not engaged in any talks with the President or the Presidency, and the party’s focus is on preparing for the upcoming elections.

Dr. Ahmed emphasized that the outcome of the 2027 elections in Kano will be determined by the people, rather than through any political alliances. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to succeed based on its strengths and plans, without needing to join forces with the All Progressives Congress (APC). In fact, Dr. Ahmed believes that joining the APC would guarantee the NNPP’s failure in Kano.

The NNPP aims to expand its presence nationwide and establish itself as a strong contender for the presidency in 2027. Dr. Ahmed pointed out that, aside from the APC, the NNPP is the only party with a solid structure across all states and local governments. The party is open to any aspirant who wishes to contest its presidential ticket, and Dr. Ahmed noted that while Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso is an influential figure, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) will ultimately make the decisions.

Regarding the crises faced by opposition parties, Dr. Ahmed does not believe that the APC is responsible. Instead, he attributed the instability to internal weaknesses within the parties themselves. He argued that if parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party were united, they would be resistant to external interference.

Looking ahead, Dr. Ahmed expressed uncertainty about the future of the PDP and Labour Party, while the NNPP prefers to work quietly and focus on its preparations. He emphasized that the party’s silence is a deliberate strategy, chosen because it is more productive than being “noisy for all the wrong reasons.” Dr. Ahmed warned that when the NNPP finally unveils its plans, its critics will be surprised, and he will be able to say “I told you so.”

As the 2027 general elections approach, the NNPP’s preparations and strategy will be closely watched. With its focus on building a strong nationwide structure and contesting the presidency, the party is poised to play a significant role in the upcoming elections.
