2.68M Nigerians Complete Voter Registration Amid CVR Exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released updated figures from the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, indicating that over 2.68 million Nigerians have completed their registration nationwide. According to the latest statistics, 1,576,137 applicants successfully completed their pre-registration online, while an additional 1,109,588 registrants finalized their enrollment through physical capture at INEC centers across the country.

A breakdown of the registration figures shows that Osun State leads the tally with 208,357 newly registered voters, followed by Kano with 159,669 registrations, and Sokoto with 152,650. Other states with significant participation include Imo, Borno, Lagos, and Jigawa, with 145,561, 123,835, 123,484, and 116,246 registrations, respectively. The Federal Capital Territory has also maintained a strong turnout with 106,855 completed registrations.

In contrast, some states have reported lower registration numbers, including Enugu, Ondo, Cross River, and Abia, with 19,275, 17,542, 16,822, and 16,691 registrations, respectively. The commission’s updated figures come as the first quarter of the nationwide CVR exercise is set to close on December 10, 2025. INEC is urging eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the remaining days to register.

The ongoing CVR exercise is a crucial step towards ensuring that all eligible citizens can participate in the electoral process. With the deadline for the first quarter approaching, INEC’s reminder serves as a call to action for those who have not yet registered. The commission’s efforts to increase voter registration and encourage citizen participation in the democratic process are ongoing, and the latest figures indicate a significant response from the public.

As the electoral commission continues to work towards ensuring the integrity and credibility of the electoral process, the updated registration figures provide a snapshot of the progress made so far. With the CVR exercise set to continue, it is essential for eligible Nigerians to seize the opportunity to register and exercise their right to vote. The commission’s reminder emphasizes the importance of citizen participation in shaping the country’s democratic future.
