PDP Expels Bauchi Rep Candidate Over Anti-Party Activities

APC lacks spirit of democratic sportsmanship - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State’s Jama’are Local Government Area has expelled Hon. Haruna Muhammad Jungudo, a former House of Representatives candidate, due to alleged anti-party activities. This decision was made after an emergency meeting of Jama’are A Ward leaders on December 8, 2025, where they reviewed petitions and complaints against Jungudo.

According to the communiqué issued after the meeting, the allegations against Jungudo were found credible following a thorough investigation. The party listed his offenses, including failure to attend PDP meetings and activities since the 2023 general election, verbal attacks on party members and leaders, and open confrontation with the PDP-led government in Bauchi State. Additionally, Jungudo was accused of working with expelled party members to hijack the PDP leadership structure in the state without recognition from legitimate party organs.

The ward executives resolved to expel Jungudo from the PDP with immediate effect, citing his actions as gross misconduct, disloyalty, and anti-party behavior in violation of the PDP constitution. However, the Bauchi PDP Caretaker Committee Secretary, Alhaji Safiyanu Zubairu, dismissed the expulsion, stating that Jungudo had already been appointed Chairman of the Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee following a National Executive Committee (NEC) resolution.

Zubairu argued that the ward leadership lacked legitimacy and questioned whether they had complied with the PDP Constitution. He claimed that all decisions taken by the dissolved Bauchi State PDP exco from state to ward level were null and void. The caretaker committee secretary described the ward leadership’s actions as politically motivated and urged party members to remain calm, promising that the committee would address the public soon on developments within the party.

The expulsion of Jungudo comes amid internal conflicts within the Bauchi State PDP, with factions emerging after the 2023 general election. The party’s national leadership had dissolved the state executive committee and expelled Governor Bala Mohammed on November 18, 2025. The situation highlights the ongoing power struggle within the PDP in Bauchi State, with different factions vying for control. As the party navigates these internal challenges, its members and the public await further developments and clarification on the way forward.
