Man Utd take decision in signing Sergio Ramos

Manchester United have dismissed speculation that they might sign veteran defender Sergio Ramos, despite the 39‑year‑old’s recent availability as a free agent. The former Real Madrid legend, whose contract with Mexican side Monterrey has expired, had been linked with a surprise move to the Premier League club. Ramos boasts an impressive résumé, including a World Cup, two European Championships, four UEFA Champions League titles and five La Liga titles, and his name had surfaced repeatedly as a potential target for United.

However, sources confirm that the Red Devils have “no interest” in pursuing a deal for the experienced defender. Instead, manager Ruben Amorim is focusing on strengthening the squad for the second half of the season, with expected signings in the January transfer window aimed at bolstering the team’s chances of success. While Ramos’s career—spanning more than two decades, most of it at Real Madrid where he established himself as one of the world’s top defenders—makes him an attractive prospect, United appear to be looking elsewhere to address their defensive needs.

As the January window approaches, Manchester United are likely to be linked with several other players as they seek to reinforce the squad. The decision not to sign Ramos may surprise some, given his reputation and achievements, but it underscores the competitive nature of the transfer market and the necessity for clubs to make calculated recruitment choices. With key fixtures looming, United will aim to make the right signings to ensure a strong finish to the season.
