The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the promotion of 523 staff members after a rigorous evaluation process. In a statement, the Commission’s Head of Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, explained that the promotions are part of the organization’s performance‑reward system, as stipulated in the Public Service Rules (PSR) for the 2025 promotion exercise.
The promotions span several cadres. Two staff members were elevated to the Director’s cadre (GL 17), eight to the Deputy Director cadre (GL 16) and 35 to the Assistant Director cadre (GL 15). Another 35 employees were promoted to Chief Identity Officer (GL 14), while 109 moved to Assistant Chief Identity Officer (GL 13). Additional promotions include 113 staff to Principal Identity Officer (GL 12), 82 to Senior Identity Officer (GL 10), and 130 to Identity Officer 1 (GL 9).
Engr. Abisoye Coker‑Odusote, Director‑General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, congratulated the promoted staff and urged them to view their new roles as opportunities to serve the country more effectively. She reiterated the Commission’s zero‑tolerance policy for extortion and warned staff against engaging in such practices. Engr. Coker‑Odusote also encouraged all employees to work diligently in the coming year to ensure the successful implementation of the National Identification Number project, while prioritising staff welfare and upholding the dignity of labour.
These promotions represent a significant development for NIMC as it continues to play a crucial role in the National Identification Number project, which aims to provide a unique identifier for all citizens and legal residents, facilitate access to essential services and enhance national security. With the newly promoted staff, the Commission is poised to strengthen its operations and improve service delivery to the public. Looking ahead, NIMC remains committed to its mission of providing effective identity‑management services while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
