Seplat Energy has announced the appointment of Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed and Larry Ephraim Ettah as Independent Non‑Executive Directors, effective 1 January 2026. The appointments follow the resignation of Bello Rabiu and Babs Omotowa from the board in April 2025 after they were appointed to the board of NNPC Limited by the President of Nigeria.
Engineer Mohammed is a seasoned energy executive with more than 37 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, specializing in natural‑gas development, commercialization, and infrastructure. He previously served as Group Executive Director/Chief Operating Officer of the Gas & Power Directorate at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), where he provided strategic leadership for major gas projects and policy frameworks.
Larry Ephraim Ettah is a highly respected Nigerian business leader with nearly four decades of corporate experience. He spent 30 years at UAC of Nigeria Plc, rising to Group Managing Director/CEO, and later founded Barracuda Capital Partners Ltd, where he serves as Executive Chairman. Ettah has held several board roles, contributed to industry associations, and participated in national economic policy through presidential and technical advisory committees.
The appointments align with the company’s Board of Directors’ Succession Plan, which aims to ensure continuity and stability in leadership. Udoma Udo Udoma, Chairman of Seplat Energy, welcomed the new directors, noting that their complementary experiences combine extensive industry knowledge with business success. The company looks forward to their significant contributions in advancing strategic growth objectives and driving continued success.
These appointments are expected to strengthen Seplat Energy’s board and provide the expertise needed to navigate the complexities of the oil and gas industry. With their combined experience, Engineer Mohammed and Mr. Ettah are well positioned to make substantial contributions to the company’s growth and success, and shareholders and stakeholders will be closely watching the impact on performance and strategic direction.
