The Nigeria Police Force announced on Saturday that all allowances due to its officers for managing the presidential and National Assembly elections held on February 25, 2023, have been paid. In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer Muyiba Adejobi refuted claims that some officers had not yet received their payments.
Adejobi clarified that the mandate for the election allowances had been issued and that all deposits had been made to the respective banks for onward payment to police personnel. He expressed surprise at reports suggesting that some officers were being denied their accrued allowances, noting that such delays are unacceptable to the Force.
He urged any officer who has not yet received payment to contact their bank directly so that any issues causing delays can be resolved promptly. Adejobi emphasized that the Police Account and Budget Office has fulfilled its obligations and that preparations are already underway to disburse the second tranche of allowances for the upcoming gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections.
The spokesperson also condemned the spread of false information by “mischief makers” and paid bloggers seeking to tarnish the Force’s reputation. He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of its officers, aiming to improve their standard of living and overall well‑being.
