Prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have pledged to work together to ensure President Bola Tinubu’s re‑election in 2027. The commitment was voiced by former Senate Leader Senator Teslim Folarin, Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu, former First Lady of Oyo State Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, and other party leaders during a recent event in Oyo town.
The APC leaders gathered to launch a tour of 14 federal constituencies in the state, emphasizing the need to set aside internal differences and unite behind Tinubu’s bid. The event was also attended by Oyo State APC Chairman Alhaji Olayide Abass and several other notable party chieftains.
Senator Folarin said that all state party leaders have agreed to prioritize unity over personal ambitions, aiming for a landslide victory for Tinubu in 2027. He noted that the party intends to increase its vote count in Oyo by at least 35 % through grassroots mobilization across all 33 local government areas. In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu secured 449,884 votes in Oyo, one of the strongest margins nationwide, and the APC leaders are determined to build on that momentum for an even more decisive win in 2027.
Mrs. Ajimobi described the pledge as a unifying platform that reflects the party’s strength and discipline, urging leaders to close ranks and prioritize peace. The APC’s focus on unity and grassroots outreach in Oyo State is significant given its 2023 performance, and with the 2027 elections still years away, these efforts are likely to be crucial for the party’s success. As the tour continues, it remains to be seen how the APC’s strategies will translate into votes in 2027.
