FCT Launches Waste Reporting Hotlines

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has launched a new initiative to tackle waste management challenges in the nation’s capital. Residents of the Federal Capital Territory can now report uncollected waste using four dedicated phone lines. This move aims to enhance the effectiveness of sanitation services and ensure that waste management contractors fulfill their obligations.

According to Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communications and Social Media, the public can forward photos and videos of uncollected refuse to the designated numbers via WhatsApp. To facilitate prompt action, residents are advised to clearly indicate the location of the uncollected waste in the images or videos submitted. This information will enable the authorities to identify the responsible waste management contractors and hold them accountable.

The four dedicated phone lines – 08038643087, 07011073406, 07011255710, and 09114843425 – are now available for residents to report waste management issues. This initiative is part of the administration’s efforts to address the growing concerns about waste management in the Federal Capital Territory. By leveraging technology and community participation, the authorities hope to improve the overall sanitation and cleanliness of the city.

The introduction of these dedicated phone lines reflects the administration’s commitment to effective waste management and its determination to ensure that residents have a clean and healthy environment. By reporting uncollected waste, residents can play an active role in maintaining the cleanliness of their community. The authorities will use the information received to monitor the performance of waste management contractors and take necessary actions to address any shortcomings.

The Federal Capital Territory Administration’s initiative is a step towards addressing the waste management challenges facing the city. By engaging with the community and leveraging technology, the authorities aim to create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment for residents. As the city continues to grow and develop, effective waste management will remain a key priority, and this initiative is an important step towards achieving this goal.
