The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has announced that it has reached a mutual agreement with the families of two late members of the Kano State House of Assembly regarding their replacement. According to the state chairman of the party, Dr. Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, the agreement was reached after extensive consultations led by the party’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
The consultations, which involved key party leaders and members of the bereaved families, took place at Kwankwaso’s residence in Kano. Dungurawa stated that the discussions were frank and respectful, resulting in a clear understanding of the process for replacing the late lawmakers. The party is considering Sa’ad Aminu Sa’ad and Nabil Aliyu Daneji, the sons of the deceased assembly members, as potential replacements.
The two lawmakers passed away on December 24, 2022, after battling separate illnesses, leaving vacant seats in the Kano State Assembly. The NNPP is committed to handling the replacement exercise in a smooth, respectful, and lawful manner, adhering to party rules and electoral guidelines. Dungurawa expressed confidence that the potential replacements would uphold the standards and public service record of their late fathers, continuing their legacy of service and dedication.
The replacement process is significant, as it ensures the continuity of representation for the people of Kano State in the assembly. The NNPP’s commitment to transparency and respect for the families of the deceased lawmakers is notable, and the party’s adherence to electoral guidelines and party rules will be closely watched. As the process moves forward, the party’s ability to manage the transition smoothly will be crucial in maintaining stability and public trust in the Kano State Assembly.
