Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed confidence in his re-election bid for the 2027 polls, citing his administration’s achievements as a key factor. Speaking at the 2025 Aro Day event in Arochukwu Local Government Area, Otti stated that his previous campaign promises have now become tangible results, which will facilitate a smoother election process.
The governor emphasized that he will not be making new promises to the people, instead, he will focus on the progress his administration has made since taking office. “In 2023, we were selling promises, but now there are visible achievements that we can point to,” Otti said. He noted that many people are already anxious about the 2027 polls, despite the election being two years away.
Otti’s administration has been in office for 30 months, and he emphasized that his team is focused on delivering on their mandate for the remaining period. “We are not worried about 2027 because we have a lot of work to do in the next two years,” he stated.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, attended the event and commended Otti’s achievements, stating that the transformation in Abia State has been recognized both within and outside Nigeria. “I congratulate Dr. Otti for the great work he has done in Abia. The transformation of the last two years has not gone unnoticed, even outside Nigeria,” Sanusi said. He also expressed his pride in being a member of Otti’s international economic advisory board.
Otti’s confidence in his re-election bid is rooted in the progress his administration has made in Abia State. With two years left in his term, the governor is focused on delivering on his promises and building on the achievements of his administration. The 2027 polls may still be far away, but Otti’s emphasis on his administration’s accomplishments suggests that he is well-prepared for the election. As the governor continues to work towards fulfilling his mandate, the people of Abia State will be watching closely to see if his confidence is justified.
