Abia State Governor Alex Otti expressed confidence in his re‑election bid for the 2027 polls, pointing to his administration’s achievements as the key factor. Speaking at the 2025 Aro Day event in Arochukwu Local Government Area, Otti said that the promises made during his previous campaign have now become tangible results, which should facilitate a smoother election process. He emphasized that he will not make new promises; instead, he will focus on the progress his government has already achieved. “In 2023 we were selling promises, but now there are visible achievements that we can point to,” Otti remarked.
The governor noted that many people are already anxious about the 2027 polls, even though the election is two years away. His administration has been in office for 30 months, and he stressed that his team remains committed to delivering on their mandate during the remaining period. “We are not worried about 2027 because we have a lot of work to do in the next two years,” he added.
The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, attended the event and praised Otti’s accomplishments, saying the transformation in Abia State has been recognized both within and outside Nigeria. “I congratulate Dr. Otti for the great work he has done in Abia. The transformation of the last two years has not gone unnoticed, even outside Nigeria,” Sanusi said, also expressing pride in being a member of Otti’s international economic advisory board.
Otti’s confidence in his re‑election bid is rooted in the progress his administration has made. With two years left in his term, the governor is focused on delivering on his promises and building on his achievements. Although the 2027 polls are still some time away, his emphasis on past accomplishments suggests he feels well‑prepared for the election, and the people of Abia State will be watching closely to see if his confidence is justified.
