Nigeria striker Akor Adams on playing with Osimhen at AFCON

Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Akor Adams, has shared his experience playing alongside teammate Victor Osimhen in the team’s attack during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco. Adams, who plays for Sevilla, noted that he has made adjustments to his game to complement Osimhen’s style of play.

Since making his debut for Nigeria in a 2-1 win against Lesotho last October, the 25-year-old has become a regular starter in Eric Chelle’s squad, featuring in five of the team’s seven games. Adams has scored two goals in the process, with all his starts coming alongside Osimhen in the attack.

When asked about his partnership with Osimhen, Adams stated that he is accustomed to playing in a double partnership, having done so at the club level. He emphasized the importance of understanding the coach’s requirements and adapting to different game situations. “I try to adjust,” Adams explained. “We are professionals, so you can’t be tied to just one idea of the game, so it is normal.”

Adams’ ability to adapt and work effectively with Osimhen has been a key aspect of Nigeria’s campaign in the AFCON tournament. As the competition progresses, the Super Eagles will look to build on their positive performances, with Adams and Osimhen playing a crucial role in the team’s attack.

The Africa Cup of Nations, which is being held in Morocco, features the best national teams from across the continent, with the winner earning the right to represent Africa at the FIFA Confederations Cup. With the tournament reaching its critical stages, Nigeria will be looking to make a deep run, and the partnership between Adams and Osimhen will be vital to their chances of success.
