Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the immediate past chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, and the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi, have hailed the February 25 presidential election as free, fair and credible. Speaking to journalists in Ilawe Ekiti on Sunday, Alabi urged the losing candidates to accept the result in good faith, warning that “unnecessary distraction will slow down the development of the country.”
The traditional ruler also praised the Supreme Court’s verdict on the naira redesign policy. He called on the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria to obey the judgment by immediately releasing funds to banks so that Nigerians can access cash, stressing that both new and old naira notes should be made available quickly to end the hardship.
Alabi noted that the All Progressives Congress’s loss in strongholds such as Lagos, Katsina, Kano and Kaduna during the presidential poll underscored the election’s fairness. While congratulating president‑elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, whom he described as “tested and trusted,” Alabi urged the incoming president not to forget his promise to support Ekiti’s economic development and to consider the state in national plans. He expressed confidence that “Tinubu will not disappoint Nigerians and indeed Ekiti State, which voted massively for him.”
Finally, the monarch lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his performance since assuming office in October of the previous year.
