The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections with the inauguration of its Membership, Revalidation, Mobilization and Registration (MRMR) Committee. The ceremony, which took place at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, was led by National Chairman Senator David Mark and attended by members of the National Working Committee, party leaders, and other key stakeholders.
Senator Mark emphasized the importance of the committee’s work, charging its members to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, diligence, and accountability. He noted that the committee’s efforts will be crucial in consolidating the party and preparing it for future political challenges. The committee has been given 30 days to complete its assignment and submit a comprehensive report to the party leadership.
The MRMR initiative is a key component of the party’s strategy to deepen its democratic culture and prepare for future political opportunities. A unique feature of the initiative is the introduction of an MRMR membership card, which will serve as a verification and empowerment tool for members. The card will confirm official membership status, engage and inform members about party activities, and equip them to actively participate in grassroots politics.
According to Senator Mark, the MRMR membership card will strengthen the party’s grassroots structure nationwide and position it strategically for the 2027 elections. The committee, chaired by Mr. Kashim Imam, comprises 17 members, including Senator Nurudeen Abatemi, Ms. Aisha Yesufu, and Dr. Sekonte Davies. In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Imam expressed gratitude to the national chairman and ADC leadership for their confidence in the committee and assured that they would work diligently to fulfill their mandate within the stipulated timeframe.
The inauguration of the MRMR Committee is a significant development in Nigeria’s political landscape, as the country prepares for the 2027 elections. The ADC’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structure and deepen its democratic culture are seen as crucial in enhancing its chances of success in the upcoming elections. With the MRMR initiative, the party aims to energize its grassroots base, increase member participation, and position itself as a viable alternative in Nigerian politics.
