Igbo Community Rejects APC’s Claim of Gaining Strength

The Igbo community in Abuja has rejected claims by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is gaining strength in the South East region. According to Engr Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, President of the Igbo Community Association in the Federal Capital Territory, such claims are a gross exaggeration.

The community’s dismissal of Uzodimma’s assertion comes after he rallied South East APC stakeholders to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing the need for the region to reposition itself within Nigeria’s political landscape. However, the Igbo community views this move as a desperate attempt to garner support for the President.

Ellis-Ezenekwe stated that the Igbo people still feel marginalized and excluded from the country’s economic and political mainstream, and therefore, do not endorse President Tinubu’s re-election. The community has called on other Nigerians to reject the President’s bid, citing his poor track record and lack of commitment to addressing the country’s pressing issues.

The Igbo community has also questioned Uzodimma’s claim that President Tinubu’s reforms are yielding results, pointing to the country’s struggling economy and rampant insecurity. “The economy is in shambles, insecurity is rampant, and our children are suffering,” Ellis-Ezenekwe said, adding, “What reforms is he talking about?”

The community has urged the APC and President Tinubu’s administration to be accountable to the people and address the pressing issues affecting the country. “We want to see action, not just words,” Ellis-Ezenekwe emphasized. The Igbo community’s stance is not just about their own interests, but also about the future of Nigeria as a whole.

The rejection of Uzodimma’s claims by the Igbo community highlights the ongoing political tensions in the South East region. The APC’s efforts to gain traction in the region have been met with skepticism, with many Igbo people feeling that the party does not represent their interests. As the political landscape in Nigeria continues to evolve, the Igbo community’s stance on President Tinubu’s re-election bid is likely to be closely watched.
