ABU appoints new energy research and veterinary hospital directors

The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, has appointed Prof. Abdullahi Mati as the Director of the Centre for Energy Research and Training and Prof. Audu-Joseph Natala as the Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. According to Auwalu Umar, Director of the Public Affairs Directorate, the appointments were conveyed to the beneficiaries in separate letters signed by the Vice-Chancellor and are for an initial tenure of two years, subject to satisfactory performance.

Prof. Mati’s appointment is based on his extensive experience and distinguished record of service, having previously served as Reactor Manager at the Centre for Energy Research and Training and as the pioneer Director of the Centre for Renewable Energy Research at Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University. As Director of the Centre for Energy Research and Training, Prof. Mati is expected to provide strategic leadership and address existing institutional challenges, including funding, staff development, and research relevance.

On the other hand, Prof. Natala, a Professor of Veterinary Parasitology and Entomology, was appointed in recognition of his commitment, hard work, and integrity. His appointment aims to reposition the Veterinary Teaching Hospital as a functional and performance-driven teaching hospital. The new Director is expected to provide purposeful leadership in addressing underperformance in clinical teaching and diagnostic services.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the appointees and wished them success in their new responsibilities. The appointments are significant as they come at a critical time for the university, with the Centre for Energy Research and Training playing a crucial role in Nigeria’s energy development priorities.
