Fayose Warns Critics Over Politics

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has cautioned critics that they cannot remove him and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, from politics. Fayose made this statement during an interview on Arise Television, where he reflected on his influence in Ekiti State politics.

He recalled that current Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji sought his support in 2023, and he stood by him during his crisis with the All Progressives Congress. Fayose noted that Oyebanji’s decision to seek his support was a wise move, demonstrating an understanding of the importance of his backing in the state.

Fayose also highlighted his role in supporting Oyebanji during his issues with the APC, stating that he intervened on Oyebanji’s behalf with President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that Oyebanji was the best candidate to win the election. This move, according to Fayose, showcases his significant influence in Ekiti State politics.

In addition, Fayose commented on the relationship between Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello. He observed that Governor Ododo has been humble and respectful towards Bello, acknowledging the role Bello played in his rise to power. Fayose advised Governor Oyebanji to adopt a similar approach, urging him not to speak ill of his predecessor, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, despite any differences they may have had.

Fayose’s statements underscore his enduring influence in Ekiti State politics and his ability to shape the political landscape. His comments also highlight the importance of building and maintaining relationships in Nigerian politics, where alliances and loyalty can play a significant role in determining success. As a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party, Fayose’s views and actions are likely to continue to attract attention and shape the political discourse in Nigeria.
