Zamfara stadium upgrade nears completion at 90 percent

The Zamfara State Government has announced that the Sardauna Memorial Stadium upgrade project is nearing completion, with 90 percent of the work already done. Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Haruna Dikko, made this disclosure during an inspection of the project site in Gusau, Zamfara’s capital city. Accompanied by other ministry officials, Dikko expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far and assured that the project would be delivered by February.

The stadium, which had fallen into disrepair and was out of use, is being renovated by the state government to provide a modern facility for sports and other events. According to Dikko, the project is part of the government’s efforts to promote sports development and generate revenue for the state. The facility will be used by the Zamfara United FC and host other sporting activities, as well as non-sporting events.

The project, handled by Monimichelle Sports Company, includes the construction of a 1,000-seater pavilion, players’ dressing rooms, sanitary facilities, referees’ room, medical room, and facilities for ball boys. The main bowl of the stadium is also being upgraded with water draining pipes and synthetic grass. Engineer Terngo Williams, who is overseeing the project, assured that all necessary materials are in place to complete the remaining work and meet the scheduled deadline.

Dikko commended the project handlers for the quality of work done so far and assured that the government would provide all necessary support to ensure the project’s timely completion. The renovation of the Sardauna Memorial Stadium is expected to boost sports development in Zamfara State and provide a modern facility for various events, generating revenue for the state government. With the project nearing completion, the state is poised to benefit from the upgraded facility, which will host local and national events, promoting sports and economic development in the region.
