The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State has commenced a digital registration of its members, with the party’s chairman, Benjamin Omale, emphasizing the importance of the exercise in determining genuine party members. The nationwide e-registration initiative aims to strengthen party structures and boost the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia in 2027.
Omale launched the exercise in his hometown in Ohimini Local Government Area, urging broad participation to open up opportunities for members and facilitate the re-election of the party’s leaders. He stressed that loyalty and commitment from party faithful are crucial, as the digital registration will serve as the foundation for political relevance, internal democracy, and electoral success.
The chairman cautioned that stakeholders who fail to participate in the exercise risk weakening the party at both state and national levels. “In today’s political environment, data is power,” he said. “A party that does not know its members cannot protect them, mobilize them, or defend their votes.” The e-registration will provide a verified and credible digital membership register, determining who votes in party primaries, who qualifies for appointments, and who the party supports during elections.
Omale emphasized that the exercise is critical in securing the future direction of the APC and warned that no political figure can afford to remain outside the process. He noted that Governor Hyacinth Alia has endorsed the project, recognizing the need for a strong party to rest on a transparent and dependable membership database. The governor has urged stakeholders at all levels to take responsibility for the success of the exercise.
The chairman charged ward leaders, local government chairmen, and appointed and elected officials to mobilize members, supervise the registration process, and protect its integrity. The digital registration exercise is expected to play a significant role in shaping the party’s future and determining its electoral success. With the APC’s commitment to strengthening its structures, the party is poised to consolidate its position and prepare for the challenges ahead.
