EPL: Paul Scholes names player who doesn’t have quality to stay at Manchester United

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, believes midfielder Wout Weghorst doesn’t have the level of quality needed to play for the Red Devils following their humiliating Premier League 7-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.

Weghorst has scored just a goal in 14 appearances since joining Man United on loan in the January transfer window.

The Netherlands international started in the No.10 role against Liverpool over the weekend but struggled to make an impact before he was substituted in the 58th minute.

“Weghorst is in the team to be a defender, really,” Scholes told Premier League Productions.

“You are talking about a Manchester United No.10 or a centre-forward. He is in the team to be defensive. He’s the one who runs about and rats about and everybody likes playing with him because he does that.

“But quality-wise as well, you have got to have a certain level of quality to play for Man United… it is not there.”
