Kano Emirate dispute to be resolved peacefully

The Kano State Government has assured residents that the ongoing Emirate dispute will be resolved amicably, with concrete measures in place to restore lasting peace and stability. Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano, emphasizing the government’s commitment to dialogue with stakeholders to prevent further tension.

The administration, Waiya explained, is guided by respect for the rule of law, traditional institutions, and the collective interests of the people of Kano State. He noted that the government’s approach is focused on finding a peaceful resolution that benefits all parties involved.

In a separate development, Governor Abba Yusuf’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is expected to bring significant benefits to the state. According to Waiya, the move will attract more federal interventions, projects, and development initiatives to Kano, particularly in critical sectors such as infrastructure, health, education, and social welfare.

The commissioner stated that the defection opens up new opportunities for the state, with increased collaboration with the federal government expected to yield more support and resources. He encouraged residents to expect more dividends of democracy, citing the potential for improved governance and development.

Regarding the Deputy Governor’s decision not to defect alongside the Governor, Waiya emphasized that the choice remains a personal one. He noted that it is up to the Deputy Governor to decide whether to continue working with the Governor within the new political arrangement or pursue a different path.

The state government, Waiya reassured, remains focused on governance, unity, and development, urging residents to remain calm and supportive as efforts continue to resolve outstanding issues. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, peace, and inclusive governance, prioritizing the interests of the people of Kano.

As the state navigates these developments, the government’s commitment to finding peaceful resolutions and promoting development is expected to yield positive outcomes for residents. With a focus on collaboration and dialogue, Kano State is poised to move forward, addressing ongoing challenges and capitalizing on new opportunities for growth and progress.
