Kwankwasiyya Emphasises Inclusive Leadership for 2027 Nigeria

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has underscored the importance of cross-party collaboration for Nigeria’s future, following a high-profile cultural event in Abuja that attracted prominent political figures from various regions and affiliations.

The movement’s 10th Sallah Kalankuwa celebration, held over the weekend, served as a convergence point for leaders including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, alongside traditional rulers and party stakeholders.

In a statement, movement spokesperson Habibu Sale Mohammed described the gathering as transcending its cultural purpose. He highlighted the diverse national spread of attendees as evidence of a collective desire for inclusive governance. “What we witnessed goes beyond celebration. The diversity and national spread of participants reflect a shared aspiration for a more inclusive, just, and forward-looking Nigeria,” he said.

Mohammed noted the event’s political significance stemmed from the calibre of participants, expressing honour at their presence. The statement specifically acknowledged the attendance of members from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Naja’atu Bala Mohammed, and key figures from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), including its national leadership and former vice-presidential candidate Isaac Idahosa.

According to Mohammed, this跨-party attendance demonstrates that collaboration is achievable and essential for national development. “This gathering sends a strong message that constructive engagement and collaboration across political divides are both possible and necessary for national development,” he stated.

The movement linked such engagements directly to Nigeria’s political trajectory, suggesting they build trust and may influence alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. “As we approach the next electoral cycle, platforms like this help build trust, encourage dialogue, and lay the groundwork for strategic alignment in the national interest,” Mohammed added.

Reaffirming its core mission, the Kwankwasiyya Movement pledged to continue fostering unity through similar inclusive platforms. “We will continue to create credible platforms that bring Nigerians together, strengthen national cohesion, and inspire collective action toward a better future,” the spokesperson concluded.

The event illustrates a growing trend of political figures participating in non-partisan cultural forums, potentially signalling renewed emphasis on national unity as the country prepares for the next electoral cycle.
