The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Zamfara State Command has activated a comprehensive security deployment involving 365 officers to safeguard worship centres and surrounding communities during the Easter period. This operational measure is designed to maintain public order and prevent disruptions at religious gatherings across the state.
The deployment details were released on Wednesday through a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASCI Umar Mohammed. Operations are being coordinated by State Commandant Sani Mustapha, who ordered the strategic positioning of personnel to cover the duration of the Easter celebrations. Officers have been assigned to key locations within the 14 Local Government Areas, prioritizing high-traffic religious sites, residential zones, and essential public infrastructure. This distribution ensures a visible security presence and rapid response capability throughout the festive interval.
Commandant Mustapha directed all deployed officers to uphold strict discipline and professional conduct while executing their duties. He emphasized the necessity of consistent patrols and effective coordination to sustain a peaceful environment. Referencing the overarching mandate of the Corps under Commandant General Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Mustapha affirmed the agency’s dedication to the protection of citizens and their assets. He stressed that security forces will take decisive action against perpetrators of criminal offenses, ensuring that violators are processed according to established legal frameworks.
The increased patrol activity aligns with standard security protocols observed during major holidays in Nigeria. Religious observances frequently attract significant attendance, prompting law enforcement agencies to implement precautionary frameworks to mitigate risks associated with large crowds and heightened pedestrian movement. The NSCDC’s targeted intervention complements broader regional security strategies aimed at stabilizing communities and ensuring the safe conduct of communal events.
This Easter security arrangement highlights ongoing efforts to balance religious freedom with public safety. Law enforcement authorities are expected to maintain active monitoring until the holiday concludes. Residents are encouraged to utilize the visible security presence as a deterrent against crime and to collaborate with officers by reporting suspicious activities, thereby supporting collective community welfare during the observance.
