Ekiti State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Wole Oluyede, has warned that silence in the face of poor governance enables corruption, injustice, and worsening hardship.
Speaking through his Special Adviser on Media, Gani Salau, Oluyede urged residents to reject passivity and deliver decisive votes in the June 20, 2026 election. He described the current wave of societal decline as a direct result of public indifference, stressing that even small acts of resistance are more meaningful than inaction.
Citing Edmund Burke’s famous quote—”The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing”—he argued that bad leadership flourishes when citizens fail to challenge it. Oluyede linked the state’s decline since the PDP’s exit in 2018 to a culture of silence that allowed corruption and mismanagement to thrive.
Promising a new era of progress, he said his first term would focus on eradicating poverty, eliminating backwardness, and positioning Ekiti among economically self-reliant states. Drawing on his background as an internationally accomplished medical doctor and businessman, he pledged prudent management of both financial and human resources.
Oluyede called on Ekiti people to rise with the resolve of Spartan warriors, using their votes to reclaim their future. He expressed confidence that the united and formidable PDP platform fully supports his candidacy and stands ready to deliver transformative governance if elected.
