Taraba Govt Denies Automatic Ticket Claims by Governor Kefas

Taraba State Government Denies Rumours of Automatic Party Tickets

The Taraba State Government has refuted widespread rumours suggesting that Governor Agbu Kefas has granted automatic tickets to certain political aspirants ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

In a statement issued by Josiah Sabo Kente, the Special Adviser on Political Matters and Special Duties, on Friday in Jalingo, the government described the claims as “false, baseless, and misleading,” insisting that no such commitments have been made by the governor.

According to the statement, Governor Kefas remains committed to democratic principles, emphasising internal party democracy, fairness, and equal opportunity for all aspirants.

“At no time has His Excellency made any promise of automatic tickets to any individual or group,” the statement read.

The clarification aligns with the position of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The State Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, reiterated that the party has no provision for automatic tickets, stressing its commitment to a transparent and credible selection process.

The government noted that the rumours had generated unnecessary tension among aspirants, party members, and the public, prompting the need for an official response. Stakeholders were urged to disregard the claims and avoid spreading unverified information that could disrupt party unity.

Reaffirming the administration’s priorities, the statement added that Governor Kefas remains focused on governance and will continue to support lawful and democratic processes within the party as election preparations continue.

The government also called on aspirants and supporters to remain calm, united, and committed to the party’s ideals.

This clarification comes amid heightened political activity in Taraba State, where multiple aspirants are positioning themselves for various elective offices. The APC, which currently holds the governorship in the state, has emphasised its commitment to internal democracy and transparent candidate selection processes.
