Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Victoria Egunjobi as the Executive Secretary of the Health Facilities Monitoring and Accreditation Agency (HEFAMAA). The appointment, formally communicated in a letter dated April 10, 2026, and signed by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, takes effect from April 13.
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence in Egunjobi’s leadership capacity, urging her to uphold commitment, professionalism, and integrity in her new role. The governor’s endorsement highlights the administration’s focus on strengthening healthcare oversight in Nigeria’s most populous state.
Egunjobi brings over two decades of public health service experience to the position. Most recently, she served as Director of Disease Control at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, where she coordinated responses to both communicable and non-communicable diseases. Her expertise spans health data management, malaria control, maternal and child health, family planning, gender-based violence, and broader health system strengthening initiatives.
Throughout her career, she has held several strategic roles, including Health Management Information System Officer, Knowledge Management Focal Person, Secretary of the Health Research Committee, and Reproductive Health Coordinator. She holds degrees in Physiology and Medicine and Surgery from the University of Lagos, as well as a Master’s degree in Public Health. She also earned a postgraduate certificate in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen and is a member of the West African College of Physicians and an associate member of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria.
Egunjobi’s appointment is expected to enhance regulatory oversight and improve healthcare service delivery standards across Lagos State. Her extensive background in public health administration and disease control positions her to drive HEFAMAA’s mandate of monitoring and accrediting health facilities, ensuring quality care for residents.
