Energia Limited has appointed Oladimeji Bashorun as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Chidi Egonu. This announcement follows Bashorun’s tenure as Chief Operating Officer, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s operational strategy and supporting its long-term growth. With over two decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, Bashorun has held senior technical and leadership positions at Shell Petroleum Development Company and Sahara Upstream. His contributions have significantly impacted asset management, operational leadership, and performance improvement initiatives.

Bashorun’s appointment underscores Energia’s commitment to enhancing industry expertise at the executive level. George Osahon, Chairman of Energia, praised Bashorun’s leadership and industry knowledge, highlighting his dedication to operational excellence and strategic growth. “The Board is confident that under his leadership, the company will continue to strengthen its position as a key player in the industry while delivering sustained value to stakeholders,” Osahon stated.

In response to his new role, Bashorun expressed his commitment to advancing Energia’s goals, emphasizing operational excellence, responsible energy development, and value creation. He acknowledged the importance of collaborating closely with the company’s talented team to build on past achievements. Energia, a prominent player in Nigeria’s energy sector, has affirmed that under Bashorun’s leadership, it will continue to enhance operational performance, pursue strategic opportunities, and contribute to the country’s energy security.

Additionally, the company reiterated its dedication to environmental stewardship and community development. This leadership change occurs amid increasing attention on Nigeria’s energy sector, particularly regarding major infrastructure projects like the proposed $25 billion Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline.
