Atiku-Obi Alliance Could Challenge APC Dominance – Momodu

Dele Momodu Advocates Atiku-Abubakar/Peter Obi Ticket for ADC

Media entrepreneur and political commentator Dele Momodu has proposed that a presidential ticket combining former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi would be a strong option for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming election cycle.

Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Momodu explained that the two politicians have already demonstrated effective collaboration, having run together on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform in the 2019 general election. He suggested their shared political temperament would make them a cohesive team.

“Pairing Atiku with Peter Obi makes sense because they worked together in 2019, so they already share a similar temperament,” Momodu said. “Peter Obi came third in the last election, so you don’t have to work too hard to maintain and attract the same group of people who support him.”

Momodu also claimed there is growing unease within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over the emergence of multiple high-profile opposition figures aligning with the ADC. He suggested the APC’s recent actions indicate concern about facing a united opposition front.

“They (APC) cannot believe that we will have maybe four or five major opposition leaders in the country, and some people will go and put fire in their houses so that none of them will be strong enough to stand against the leader,” Momodu stated. “It is reality; let’s not hide behind one finger. I keep saying it, Tinubu today, despite gathering all the governors, ministers, legislators, and what have you, you can see the obvious panic in the party.”

The remarks come amid speculation about potential realignments in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several prominent figures exploring options outside their current parties.
