Prof. Adams Agahiu, director of the National Education Summit in Nigeria, has urged opposition political parties to collaborate with the federal government to address Nigeria’s economic challenges, rather than engaging in negative criticism. Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Agahiu emphasized that the country’s current political and economic reforms present a unique opportunity to dismantle long-standing barriers to national prosperity.
“The political and economic structures that have long undermined Nigerians’ prosperity are being steadily replaced through the realignment of the economy to enable full participation,” Agahiu stated. He noted that the current administration has upheld democratic principles since taking office in 2023, including respect for the rule of law, separation of powers, and protection of citizens’ rights.
Agahiu called on Nigerians to disregard what he described as misinformation allegedly being circulated by opposition elements against the government. He argued that opposition parties could play a more constructive role by working in synergy with the federal government to promote rapid economic growth and grassroots development.
The professor’s remarks come amid ongoing economic reforms aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s economy, which has been grappling with inflation, currency devaluation, and high unemployment. Agahiu’s call for unity and constructive engagement reflects a growing sentiment among some stakeholders that collaboration across political lines is essential to address the nation’s pressing challenges.
