Prof. Adams Agahiu, director of the National Education Summit in Nigeria, urged opposition political parties to cooperate with the federal government in tackling the country’s economic challenges instead of offering negative criticism. Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Agahiu highlighted that the current political and economic reforms present a unique opportunity to dismantle long‑standing barriers to national prosperity. “The political and economic structures that have long undermined Nigerians’ prosperity are being steadily replaced through the realignment of the economy to enable full participation,” he said.
Agahiu noted that the administration, since taking office in 2023, has upheld democratic principles, including respect for the rule of law, separation of powers, and protection of citizens’ rights. He called on Nigerians to disregard what he described as misinformation being circulated by opposition elements against the government. According to him, opposition parties could play a more constructive role by working in synergy with the federal government to promote rapid economic growth and grassroots development.
His remarks come amid ongoing reforms aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s economy, which has been grappling with inflation, currency devaluation, and high unemployment. Agahiu’s call for unity and constructive engagement reflects a growing sentiment among some stakeholders that collaboration across political lines is essential to address the nation’s pressing challenges.
