Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has confirmed that he and American R&B singer Chris Brown will release a joint album in 2025. He announced the news during a recent episode of the Swift Conversations podcast, where he discussed his evolving musical direction and reaffirmed his commitment to cross‑cultural collaborations.
The Grammy‑nominated artist, known for global hits such as “Fall” and “Unavailable,” said the upcoming project will be deeply rooted in African sounds and will involve many of his original producers from Nigeria. “The music I am making now is very African,” Davido explained. “In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home.” He added that his American upbringing will also influence the record: “However, I am still an American so definitely there’s going to be collaborations,” before revealing the partnership with Chris Brown.
The two artists first collaborated in 2019 on the hit track “Blow My Mind,” which blended Afrobeats and R&B and achieved global success. Since then they have worked together on roughly five songs, building a creative partnership that fans have long anticipated would culminate in a full project. Davido initially teased the possibility of a joint album in 2023, noting that they had recorded numerous unreleased tracks together.
Their ongoing collaboration reflects the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global music scene and the increasing cross‑pollination between African and American artists. The announcement has generated significant excitement among fans of both performers, who have long celebrated their musical chemistry. With Davido’s rising international profile and Chris Brown’s established global fan base, the album is expected to further bridge the gap between Afrobeats and mainstream R&B. As the release date approaches, industry observers will be watching closely to see how this collaboration shapes the evolving sound of global pop music.
