PSG Crowned Europe’s Best, Says Bayern Boss Kompany

Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has described Paris Saint‑Germain as the best team in Europe following the French club’s 5‑4 victory over the Bavarians in the first leg of their Champions League semi‑final on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after the match, the Belgian coach acknowledged PSG’s status as the reigning European champions and emphasized that the tie remains undecided. “We are up against the best side in Europe because they are the holders,” Kompany said. “The result is still in balance. We need to make an impact at the stadium in the second leg; it is a legendary venue where this club has achieved many great things. We cannot hope for anything less.”

The comments came after Bayern’s narrow defeat at the Parc des Princes, where the German side squandered a 3‑0 lead before conceding five goals in the final stages. Despite the collapse, Kompany highlighted the resilience of his squad and the importance of the upcoming return match at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern will host PSG on Wednesday at the Allianz Arena for the second leg of the semi‑final. A win or a favourable aggregate score would put the Bavarians back on track for a place in the Champions League final, while a loss would confirm PSG’s progression to the tournament’s decisive match.

Kompany’s remarks reflect the high stakes of the tie and the respect accorded to a PSG side that secured the Ligue 1 title last season and reached the European final for the second consecutive year. Both clubs will now aim to capitalize on home advantage, with the outcome of the second leg expected to shape the composition of the championship match later this month.
