Cubana Chief Priest Announces APC Run for Imo Seat 2027

Pascal Okechukwu, widely recognised as “Cubana Chief Priest,” announced his intention to contest the 2027 House of Representatives election for the Orsu‑Orlu‑Oru East Federal Constituency of Imo State as a candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The declaration came during a visit to the APC state secretariat in Owerri, Imora, where Okechukwu recorded a video message that was later posted on social media.

In the video, Okechukwu told party officials that he had formally communicated his ambition to represent the constituency and that he had received assurances of support from APC leadership. “I came to congratulate and encourage our party leaders and also to share my humble desire to represent my people at the House of Representatives,” he said, adding, “God is in control; let His will be done.”

One senior APC figure who hosted the meeting praised Okechukwu’s versatility, noting his activities in motivational speaking, business and politics. “I don’t know if you’re a motivational speaker, businessman, or politician; you fit into all,” the official remarked, confirming that the party would back his candidacy.

The move reflects Okechukwu’s recent public alignment with the ruling party. He has been vocal in supporting President Bola Tinubu’s administration and was appointed Imo State director of the City Boy Movement, a youth organisation that campaigns for Tinubu’s re‑election. His profile as a religious leader and media personality has given him a substantial following, which he now seeks to translate into political capital.

The APC has not yet released an official candidate list for the 2027 elections, but Okechukwu’s announcement adds a high‑profile name to the pool of aspirants seeking the party’s ticket in Imo. If successful, his candidacy could influence the dynamics of the Orsu‑Orlu‑Oru East Federal Constituency, a region where the APC aims to retain or improve its legislative representation.

Stakeholders, including local party structures and the electorate, will be watching how Okechukwu’s campaign develops, particularly given his dual role as a religious figure and political aspirant. The upcoming primaries will determine whether his declared ambition culminates in a formal nomination, setting the stage for a competitive contest in the 2027 general elections.
