Robo Queens clinch 15th Lagos State Women’s Cup title

FC Robo Queens clinched the 2026 Lagos State Women’s Federation Cup on Sunday, defeating Ghetto Tigers 4‑0 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, according to Daily Post. The victory marked a record 15th title for Emmanuel Osahon’s side, underscoring their dominance in the state competition.

The final was decided early, with Robo Queens imposing their tactical superiority throughout the match. The four‑goal margin reflected the team’s clinical finishing and disciplined defence, leaving Ghetto Tigers with limited opportunities. The win also secured Robo Queens a place in the 2026 Women’s National Federation Cup, where they will join Ghetto Tigers and other state champions.

Robo Queens entered the tournament as one of the pre‑tournament favourites, having rebounded from last year’s disappointment when they were eliminated by Unification Ladies FC. Their 2026 campaign demonstrated a clear turnaround, highlighted by a cohesive midfield, a potent attack, and a solid backline. The performance was a testament to the squad’s depth and the coaching staff’s adjustments following the previous season’s early exit.

Historically, Robo Queens have been a powerhouse in Lagos women’s football. Their 15th state cup triumph extends a record that has yet to be matched by any other club in the region. The last time they reached the national final was in 2021, when they were defeated by Bayelsa Queens. Since then, the competition has been won by Rivers Angels, who captured the 2025 national title.

The Lagos State Women’s Federation Cup, organized by the state football federation, serves as a qualifier for the national tournament. By securing the state crown, Robo Queens have earned the right to compete against other state champions in the forthcoming Women’s National Federation Cup, scheduled to commence later this year. Their successful run in Lagos places them among the favourites for the national competition, although they will face stronger opposition from clubs such as Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens.

The upcoming national tournament will provide a platform for Lagos’ top female players to showcase their talent on a broader stage and could influence future selections for the national team. Robo Queens’ consistent performances also contribute to the growing visibility of women’s football in Nigeria, encouraging greater investment and support for the women’s game.

With the state title secured and a spot in the national cup confirmed, Robo Queens now turn their focus to preparation for the 2026 Women’s National Federation Cup, where they aim to add a national championship to their extensive list of accolades.
